London has tons of incredible transport options which makes getting around much easier. In the middle of the city it is quite walkable with places fairly close together. Take advantage of walking whenever possible as it will both let you see the sights of London and help you save a little on transit.

When a longer trip is in order the Tube (London’s subway) is a great option. Instead of buying paper tickets, you can simply tap your credit or debit card or get an Oyster card, with the fare being calculated automatically for you. This lets you quickly and simply tap into the Tube to get to where you need to go. When possible avoid rush hour (7-30-9:30 AM and 5:00-7:00 PM) as the trains can get quite crowded. If you need to travel during these times make sure to stay close together with your party and keep a hand on kids to make sure you don’t get separated.

The Tube network is very dense allowing you to get almost anywhere you need using the lines and they come fairly regularly providing you with flexibility. There are also longer distance above ground lines that can get you to the Greater London area to see spots such as Greenwich Observatory. There are also other options like buses and taxis if the tube doesn’t work for your particular use case.

Even through the entirety of London can cover a great area, with its incredible transit getting around is simple.

About Jim Casington

Hi. I'm Jim. I have been traveling the world in a van for some years now. I have been all over and seen so many things. My only hope is to share some of the experience I have gathered in my wild journey through life with you all. Some wonder how I travel the world in a van. I mean, how would I get across the ocean. Well this isn't for everyone I sell the van and get a new one when I switched to traveling Europe. It takes a certain person to do but I am that person so I love it!
