If you want to enjoy the Smokey mountains but aren’t up for a hike, take advantage of the many scenic drives they offer that have incredible mountain views and historic stops. Routes like the incredible Roaring Forks Nature Trail allow you to enjoy the park at your own pace by going to the many pull off spots for photos, picnics and strolls. You can enjoy the waterfalls, forests, old cabins and mountain streams while using your car for the transportation between stops. This is perfect for when you are tired, traveling with kids or older adults or simply want a more relaxing day.

Another popular drive is the Cades Cove Loop which lets you see beautiful open meadows in addition to historic cabins and churches. You should also checkout Clingmans Dome if you are okay with a short walk. It has a short path to the highest point in the park giving you incredible panoramic views of the mountains and spruce forests around you. It is a must see in good weather!

There are many gorgeous spots so even if you are up for a hike don’t count them out. There are tons of beautiful things to see along these scenic drives!
